Exercise and How to Manage Stress

A condition of mental and emotional strain with demanding circumstances is what is referred to as stress. A stressed person is prone to psychological breakdown. Causes of stress are very numerous. People are affected by the causes of stress differently. Some people get stressed at their workplace. Causes of stress in the workplace include being unhappy with the job, working for long hours, working under dangerous conditions among other causes. There are also life stresses. The causes of life stress are divorce, getting married, loss of a job, the death of a loved one among others.

Sometimes however, stress can come from inside. Meaning that one can stress themselves out by worrying about certain things. Worrying about certain issues such as the fear of uncertainty, attitude and perceptions, unrealistic expectations, and major life changes can result in stress. Stress is not something that is healthy. People are advised to try as much as they can to relieve themselves from stress. There are proven negative health effects of stress. These include a headache, fatigue, difficulty in sleeping and irritability. The worst can happen with some of these health implications of stress. However, there are ways that can help a stressed person to do away with the stress.

Below are examples of tips that can assist a person to deal with stress. It is important that a stressed person should avoid caffeine, nicotine, and alcohol. Both nicotine and caffeine are stimulants. These substances will increase the levels of stress rather than reducing. Despite alcohol being a depressant when consumed in large quantities, it is not an effective way of managing the stress. Getting more sleep is a simple way that can help a stressed person to reduce the stress levels. This is because lack of sleep has been identified as a cause of stress. There are also some relaxation techniques that one might try to help them reduce stress. Majority of these relaxation techniques have been tried and tested.

The other way of dealing with stress is through doing exercise. Stress is characterized by the increasing levels of stress hormones such as cortisol and adrenaline. Exercise can therefore boost the production of these hormones. Even the slow exercises can still assist one to achieve these effects. Walking in fresh air can also be useful. A more permanent situation is the incorporation of physical activities in your daily routine.

There are certain ways on how exercise help in stress management. One of these mechanisms is through pumping of endorphins into one’s body. The endorphins are known as brain’s feel-good transmitters. The irritations of the day can be forgotten following an exercise session. Another way on how exercise reduces the stress levels is by improving someone’s mood. Improving the moods of a person is as a result of increased confidence, and lowering symptoms of depression.
